USA Paperback Publication Day: Dirt Creek

30 May 2023 is publication day for Dirt Creek – the US paperback edition of my first novel. (It’s still technically the 30th in the states, but it’s already the next day here in Australia!)

I am a little beside myself to imagine this (lighter! More portable!) book in the hands of US readers. Huge thanks have to go to my wonderful publisher Flatiron Books, my fantastic agents in Sydney and New York – Grace Heifetz of Left Bank Literary and David Forrer of Inkwell – and everyone who has read this book and seen something of value in it. I’ll be announcing details of my US paperback launch very soon!

“Thrilling and atmospheric … Hayley Scrivenor’s debut novel is a vivid, slow burn that unravels the baffling disappearance of 12-year-old Esther.”
—Seattle Times

“A novel of sharp-edged tempers, accidents waiting to happen and dark inheritances.”
—New York Times Book Review

“I read Dirt Creek in one sitting because of Scrivenor’s excellent writing, fascinating plot, and no-nonsense female Detective Sergeant Sarah Michaels.”
—BuzzFeed

“Powerful.”
—CrimeReads

“The best first novel I’ve read in years. It is a beautifully written character study of small town Australia and what happens to it as the town is torn apart by a vanished child.”
—Deadly Pleasures

“Scrivenor’s stunning debut blends a taut psychological thriller with a suspenseful police procedural…Fans of Liane Moriarty and Jane Harper won’t want to miss this page-turner.”
—Publishers Weekly, starred review

“The book brims over with head-spinning and mind-bending surprises. It will draw the inevitable comparisons to Jane Harper’s The Dry (2017), but it proceeds boldly under its own unique power. A brilliantly crafted debut.”
